Clifton Glamping

Tom Gordon is the sixth generation in his family to farm the Clifton Station, a challenging and rugged 800ha tract of Te Awanga land adjacent to the Cape Kidnappers Gannet Colony. The land is so pocked with gullies and crevices, each cranny feels like its own private valley. When Tom and his wife Lucia were first dating, they'd pitch a tent in a quiet patch for a weekend getaway at home. Memories of those carefree weekends under canvas have inspired their accommodation venture, Clifton Glamping.

Two private safari tents with permanent timber floors are decked out with king-size beds, chandeliers and indoor fireplaces to make getaways that are perfect for couples. Tom converted the historic sheds onsite into bathrooms and has built the vintage-styled kitchens from recycled materials.

462 Clifton Road, Te Awanga.
