The Woolshed Café

Right on SH1, just south of Sanson, this café is a comfortable place to stop and recharge. There's plenty of parking and wheelchair/buggy access, as well as an outdoor garden and play area. It's also highly likely some friendly sheep will be closeby. Frequent SH1 travelers may remember this site as home to the Old Manor, which caught fire in 2009 and had to be demolished. Owners Alan and Frances Parker had always admired an iconic black woolshed on Hawke's Bay's SH50, so were inspired to replicate it here in a café. The Old Manor lives on, with some of the wood recycled in the café's floors, doors and tables. 2861 Wellington Road (SH1). (06) 329 3295, woolshedcafe.nz
