Awastone Riverside Haven

Besides offering rafting and kayaking adventures, Tricia and Paul Eames at Awastone Riverside Haven have accommodation ranging from camping and caravan parking, cabins, and even a cottage. Campers and campervans are welcome to park in Awastone's powered camping area or can pop back over the bridge to the “budget option” at Mangaweka Camping Ground, which Awastone also manages. Awastone's riverfront powered sites have wifi. There are good bathrooms and a kitchen and laundry, as well as access to a licensed café. Pets are not allowed, but they are at Mangaweka. Powered or unpowered sites are available at Mangaweka, as are flush toilets, but there's no wifi, and hot showers are paid for with tokens (bought at Awastone). While bookings at Awastone are advised, it's first-in-first-served at Mangaweka, although there's usually plenty of non-powered sites available. Awastone also has a couple of cabins, and Tricia says the couple is working on building up accommodation offerings for those who want something more than a campervan site. 143 Ruahine Road, Mangaweka.
