Nick Widley and his wife Kymberly are well known in the Nelson hospitality sector. Their restaurant, the Cod & Lobster, recently rebranded as Mama Cod (on Facebook), has made its name not only for its food but also for having one of the largest gin collections in the country. When the opportunity arose to open a standalone bar, the couple jumped at it. Kismet is — unapologetically — dedicated to whisky. Nick has a tremendous amount of experience in the business and has gathered people around him who have the same passion for premium drinks. Premium doesn't always mean expensive, as he says it's all about the quality of the experience, even at lower prices. That's not to say Kismet doesn't have premium whiskys on offer.
