We love to receive your letters

I LOVE READING your magazines. I have been getting them for many years and have enjoyed every one of them.

The most recent issue got me with all its homegrown heroes. Mario Gregor and Ceara Lile made me want to get off my chair and do some of what they do. A while back, I watched a television programme that featured Ceara explaining how she went about picking the ingredients for natural dyes.

The issue also made me want to go and see Featherston, plus the artists from Geraldine — the father & daughter, I love their work (John and Susan Badcock, Art in the veins, NZ Life & Leisure, May/June). I read the issue twice; I never get bored with any of the stories. Thank you and all your people who bring this magazine into our lives.

WE RECENTLY WENT on a family campervan holiday, traveling from Auckland to sunny Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne. We went to the Rere Rockslide and came across the Eastwoodhill National Arboretum, ( NZ Life &

Leisure, May/June) which offers campervans overnight camping space for a small fee. They allowed us to park our campervan on the grass underneath some fantastic trees that were in autumn colours — what an amazing sight that was. We explored the park via its various paths, and we were speechless when it came to the views, which you cannot fully capture in a photo.

There are so many different colours and shapes of leaves — we had a contest to see who could find the most varied shades, shapes and sizes. It was a truly memorable experience. This place is a hidden gem, with something for the whole family to do.

WHAT A PERFECT Mother’s Day I had this year. With an unopened NZ Life & Leisure waiting on my bedside table, breakfast arriving on a tray delivered by my 10-year- old daughter, and cuddles and cards from both my children, the joy continued. While I usually make your magazine features last for as long as possible, I devoured the May/June copy in one bite. As lunchtime neared and I finished the last article on Tony and Jenny Enderby’s fantastic work on the Matakana Coast ( Legends of Leigh), I was left inspired by all the creative Kiwi entrepreneurs featured in your articles and even more excited as I begin my own business venture.

Keep up the great work, NZ Life & Leisure. Keri Benefield, Havelock North

I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED Chris van Ryn’s article, Wellington by foot (NZ Life & Leisure, March/April). I spent a couple of days in Wellington earlier this year, much of the time on foot around the beautiful waterfront and environs. Chris’ tour brought it all back to life for me, as I had found Wellington such a vibrant and exciting city. His connection with the siphon coffee in Japan was fascinating, too. I loved all the methods of coffee- making in those beaut Wellington cafés. No wonder Wellington is the coffee capital of New Zealand — great coffee and excellent service every time.

Thanks, Chris, for a very well-written and enjoyable article. My next issue of NZ Life & Leisure has just arrived — always a highlight for me. There is so much reading in each magazine. I quickly had to finish March/ April before starting May/June. Thanks,

NZ Life & Leisure.

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH to receive a bag of goodies from our daughter for Easter. She had ordered online from Countdown. The pack included lots of Easter treats, but the best surprise was your magazine.

I was rapt with it and even found the adverts interesting. I am sure I read every single word in that edition. On arriving home from our Easter break, I promptly subscribed for myself and my daughter, who lives in Lake Hāwea. I also loved how you focus on stories away from the main centres. Well done. So thanks for putting together a fab magazine. I am spreading your praises far and wide — ngā mihi nui.
