Ridge Top Farm

Walking and camping is offered in fine style at Ridge Top Farm, a 600ha sheep and beef farm. Sarah Gilbertson is behind the property's glamping and farm-walk adventures. She and husband Angus first pitched their tent in 2014, keen to share their third-generation farm with guests. Conveniently located halfway between Taupō and Wellington, the farm is reached via SH54 (leave time for a scenic stop at Stormy Point). Once there, two glamping options — one tent and a hut — are sited just under a ridge (thus the name), situated for shelter and views. There's everything that's needed for a relaxing holiday, even an outdoor bath.

Naturally, the idea is to chill out, but Sarah also offers fully catered, private walking adventures, with options of one-day walks, or two-night/two-day walking packages.
