CABLE BAY WALKWAY

Starting from either Glenduan or Cable Bay, this 3.5-hour walk provides terrific coastal views of the Boulder Bank, Nelson City and Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks. The middle section of the track passes through a patch of beautiful and varied native forest. Cable Bay gets its name from being the location of New Zealand’s first international telecommunications link; an undersea cable between the bay and Sydney was completed in 1876, and a small community formed around the staff who worked at the cable station.
