Kai Iwi Lakes Campground

Kai Iwi Lakes has two campgrounds — Pine Beach and Promenade Point. Pine Beach has more facilities, with powered sites and a small onsite shop open during summer. During peak periods it can be packed, so book well in advance.

Promenade Point is further north along the main road and is a more traditional campsite. There are no showers, though there are flushing toilets. Both campgrounds are just steps from the white sand of Lake Taharoa, so early morning and evening dips in the cool, fresh water can easily replace showers for a day or two. There are no food facilities nearby (other than the small shop during summer), so stock up in Dargaville to avoid a 30-minute dash back to town.
